The project ‘Resilient forest sink projects in Germany’ focuses on forest climate projects in Germany and their impact on climate and biodiversity protection. The aim of the project is to produce a practice-oriented guide that makes it easier for companies to compare and select forest climate projects in Germany. <\/p>\n

The project analyses the provider market, identifies companies\u2019 requirements, develops a set of criteria for climate-resilient, biodiversity-enhancing forestry projects through a process involving experts, and applies these criteria to selected projects. Building on this, a practical guide is produced to provide companies with guidance and a basis for comparison, highlight best-practice projects, and encourage providers of less effective services to improve their quality. <\/p>\n

The project is a response to the rapidly growing but non-transparent market for forest climate projects in Germany. Nature-based climate protection measures with forests are considered a key lever for achieving the climate and biodiversity targets of the National Strategy on Biological Diversity<\/a>. Companies are increasingly using forest projects for their climate and biodiversity strategies, but encounter little comparable information on the objectives, strategies and effectiveness of the offers.
