InnoFort – Innovative further training in the skilled trades through microcredentials

The InnoFort project aims to review the existing requirements for microcredentials (MC) in terms of their transferability to vocational education and training and to develop a concept for how this can be achieved. The main topics are artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability.

MC aim to support people in lifelong learning and the recognition of necessary skills with the help of small learning and certification units. Up to now, MC have been increasingly considered in the context of academic education and further training. The use of MC in the vocational training system of the skilled crafts sector is still untested and unexplored in terms of formal and practical application possibilities.

What exactly is planned?

As part of the InnoFort project, together with the Institut für Betriebsführung (itb) and the Forschungsinstitut Betriebliche Bildung (f-bb), possibilities are being explored as to how MC can be integrated into the vocational training system, especially in the advanced training system of the skilled trades. Learning modules on the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability are also being developed. These will be offered in the form of compact learning opportunities and a simulation game and tested in training courses run by chambers of skilled crafts.

InnoFort also identifies opportunities for recognition of MC in the further training system of the skilled crafts sector. First and foremost, the aim is to formulate the prerequisites for appropriate recognition and to identify opportunities for linking to existing qualifications and training formats.

As a network of companies, BAUM supports the continuation of the results achieved in the project, in particular via the BAUM Academy.
